Hot on the tails of the his recent mix CD, Twisted Sessions Vol.1 (TWSCD18) Tristan is back with a brand new album, called ‘Substance’, it is a timely reminder of his brilliant production skills and Djing skills. The new album is long overdue after the continued success of his first album ‘Audiodrome’ released in April of 2000.
‘Substance’ another chunky instalment from Tristan is a selection of new tunes that Tristan has produced over the year between gigs and represents all that he has learnt in the field, the clubs and dance floors of the world. It is a collection of irresistibly funky sounds; solid beats and driven rhythms made for dancing. Warming up with ‘Let Go’ the album soon makes way for tracks like ‘Festival Fever’, ‘Dirty Licker’, ‘Up Syndrome’, and ‘Contact’, full on tunes made to make you rumble, scratchy synths, atmospheric sounds, rolling basses and deep kicks surround. Tristan’s music has a consistency to it uncommon to any other trance producer, his tracks hit a level of high energy that drives through the night, his recent mix for the Twisted Sessions CD was described by MUZIK Magazine’s Editor Thomas Green as;
“A sound that is only a tweak away from progressive but harsher, more driving, and more obviously techno-influenced.” MUZIK (July 2002)
This description sums up Tristan’s sound perfectly, a progressive DJ mix style trance, with a focus on the dance floors desires. There are some other more varied tracks on the album like ‘Brazilica Psychedelica’ with its quica solo, the underwater groove of Funk Rock, and finally the laid back ‘Fleetwood Mac-esque’ dub bliss of Sapphire Eyes bringing Tristan to 2002.
